Sadly, many of us don’t get enough exercise. Life is busy, we spend a lot of time trying to squeeze everything into our days and exercise is often left to tomorrow.
Often if we just gave ourselves 30 minutes daily to move our bodies we would benefit not only physically but also mentally. Exercise makes you feel better. It releases endorphins and lots of feel good chemicals throughout the body, helping improve your mood. I haven’t met anyone that went for a walk and came back feeling worse for going.
Social exercising is great for meeting people. Whether it be at a gym in a group class, the local social netball team or your regions Parkrun, there are people that are looking for like minded individuals to chat and workout with. If your struggling to find a group look toward your community noticeboard or regional Facebook page.
It doesn’t have to be hard. Let’s face it we aren’t all wanting to head to the nearest Cross-fit gym or Hip Hop studio, I get that, but there are many different ways to exercise. Run, walk, hike, gym, swim, dance, social teams, yoga, Pilates the list goes on – you do you. Remember when you were a kid and you run, laughed, played – it was exercise, so do what’s fun. Remember or find what you enjoyed and do that.
Bottom line, exercise is more than making you look better. It gives you energy, changes your mood and can give your confidence a boost. Give it a try and see what works for you.
We’d love to hear what you gave a try and enjoyed so much that you did it again and again.
